Interview with Parrish and LucyThis is a featured page

Story by Bforsaken staff

In this interview we are going to look at the brains behind this strange twist of fate story about an alien abduction. In reading this story you are put in the shoes of the abducted Maxwell Devonshire, following him through his living hell aboard the space ship.

With us today is Parrish Powell and Lucy Newman, the authors of this strange tale. So, tell me, who came up with this story? And how did you two get involved with this project?

Lucy: I sort of met Parrish in the G4TV forums. I can't remember what it was we were talking about. I think it was my disappointment in how G4TV has pretty much turned into Spike TV. So anyways, after spending almost half the year keeping up with each other on-line we finally found found time to sit and chat with each other on Chatzy. So, anyways, we started talking and he mentioned trying to start a story project. Something that could possibly become a videogame or movie and then as we were writing we saw this contest on films to die for. So we went for it even though the story is still in its raw format.

Parrish: Hehehe ... That's true we were talking for a few months over the G4 forums about being a little jaded by it's network. And based on her point of view, conviction and ideas, I said to myself that she'd make a good business partner in some of the projects I had in motion.

Lucy: Well we started brain storming about ideas and then it hit me. I was telling him about these things I saw one day. I thought they were flying saucers. To this day I can't explain it. So to start, we started talking about UFOs kinda like researching past abductions, news videos of actual phenomena and so on.

Interesting. In most stories you have the hero which is obviously Maxwell and then an enemy among its cast of characters interacting. Why did you two decide to write this story in the first person?

Lucy: It was sort of a way to make readers not only share the main character's adventures but to also read how he felt, what he thought and the questions that generally flood a person's mind when in a panic.

Parrish: Well for me first person is one of my favorite writing styles. And Lucy pretty much took the words out of my mouth as far as the reasons why it's used.

How long has it taken you both to write this story?

Parrish: Well it didn't really take us that long to finish this piece ... I think it was around three months, and it was a pretty difficult task keeping up with each other at times but it all came together.

Lucy: No. It didn't take that long to finish, it was just finding the time where we were both present to work on the project more than anything else.

What was the toughest part of the story to write?

Parrish: The toughest part of the story to write was the ending I believe. Because we couldn't decide on where to take our hero.

Lucy: Well. There were so many ideas about how to end the story and it was just hard to decide on one ending.

What is your favorite part of the story and why?

Parrish: Hmmmm ... I really don't have a favorite part to this story, to me the whole story has so many twist and turns that it would be very trying to think of a favorite part.

Lucy: For me my favorite is the moment Maxwell's dream was becoming a nightmare and he's trying to escape. He finally realizes he's not even awake and must try to get out.

What other projects are you working on and when will it be ready for publication?

Parrish:
As far as publication we plan to publish around fall ... And we'll see what's next after that.

Lucy: Well. What Parrish said as the publication date sounds right and I don't want to jinx our work so you'll just have to wait and see for yourself.
